Trend Optic’s Melbourne boutique is at 8 Armstrong Street, Middle Park. It is a small, calm space where every pair of glasses and sunglasses is chosen with you, not pulled off a wall of stock. Walk in during opening hours, or book a private fitting with owner Elina Varonen.
If you want glasses or sunglasses chosen for you with personal attention, rather than picked off a wall of stock, Trend Optic is made for you. Bring a prescription from your own optometrist, or come in and look around first.
What a visit is like
Come in whenever we are open and look around, or book a private, closed-door fitting. A fitting takes about 45 minutes, it is one-on-one, and it is unhurried. We start with how you actually wear glasses and what has annoyed you about past pairs. Then we look at your face: its structure, proportions and the way different shapes sit on it. We try frames chosen for you, adjust them as we go, and talk through lenses, coatings and materials for your prescription and your day. You leave knowing what suits you, why, and when your glasses will be ready.
A $250 deposit holds a private fitting. It comes off the price of your glasses, and if we cannot find the right frame it is refunded in full.
What we do and do not do
We dispense glasses: frame styling, fitting, adjustments and prescription lenses made with leading optical labs. We do not do eye tests in Melbourne. Elina is a qualified optometrist, but she is registered to practise in Finland, not Australia. Bring a current prescription from your own optometrist, and we will take it from there.

Our frames are all from independent makers. The selection changes, so we do not list brands here: come in or book a fitting and we will show you what is on the wall now.
Our story
Trend Optic began in Helsinki in 2000. In 2010 Elina and her partner Harri took the shop over. When Elina moved to Australia, Vilja became the third partner in Helsinki, and Elina opened Trend Optic in Melbourne in 2020, in the CBD. In 2026 we moved to Middle Park.
