OUR LENSES

The labs behind every lens

A frame is only half the fitting. We work with a small number of the world’s best optical labs, chosen for precision as much as pedigree.

SINCE 1849

Essilor

The French house that invented the progressive lens. Essilor launched Varilux in 1959 — the first lens to correct near, intermediate and distance vision in one — and has spent every decade since refining it.

We turn to Essilor for their Crizal coatings and Transitions lenses, still some of the most trusted names in the industry.

Zeiss

German precision optics, going back to Carl Zeiss’s workshop in Jena. Zeiss invented the Punktal lens in 1912 — the first modern precision eyeglass lens — and the anti-reflective coating in 1935.

Their individually measured lenses are as close to tailor-made as prescription eyewear gets.

SINCE 1939

Tokai

A family-run Japanese lens house based in Nagoya, still designing, sourcing and manufacturing everything on home soil. Tokai makes some of the thinnest lenses in the world, including a 1.76 index once considered impossible.

For anyone with a strong prescription who still wants a fine, understated frame, this is where we look first.

Shamir

An Israeli lab that pioneered freeform lens technology — surfacing every point of a lens individually rather than relying on a standard mould. Their Autograph progressives are built around how a person actually moves their eyes, not just their prescription.

Quietly one of the most advanced names in the industry.
