INDEPENDENT EYEWEAR
Laibach & York

Ljubljana, Slovenia, since 2013
Industrial designer Blaž Oberč spent years designing eyewear for other established brands before deciding, in 2013, to put his own name on the door. He named the label after Laibach, the historic German name for Ljubljana, paired with York — a nod to time he spent living in Toronto.
The brand remains a proud family-owned business, hand-crafting every frame in small batches from Italian acetate. It’s also a genuinely zero-waste operation, reusing every offcut, and supports a honeybee sanctuary as part of its environmental commitments.
Part of the wider world of independent eyewear — not necessarily something we carry, but always something we’re happy to talk about.
