Hoffmann Natural Eyewear

Kelberg, Germany, since 1978

Josef Hoffmann opened a tiny eyewear workshop in Germany’s Eifel region, working horn by hand with saw, file and sandpaper, simply because he’d fallen for the material. Buffalo horn, sourced only after the animal’s natural life, remains warm, translucent and genuinely one-of-a-kind in a way no synthetic can replicate.

Every frame is still made without a visible logo, on purpose — the brand’s whole philosophy is that the wearer should be the focus, not the name on the temple. Today around 90 people still hand-craft every collection in the same small studio the founder started.

Part of the wider world of independent eyewear — not necessarily something we carry, but always something we’re happy to talk about.
