INDEPENDENT EYEWEAR

Robert François Pinton was a jeweller before he was an eyewear maker, running the storied house of Meyrowitz in Paris before founding his own name in 1953. His frames became a genuine part of mid-century history — he made the “Ona” model by hand for Aristotle Onassis, and the Jackie Kennedy family wore his designs for years.
The house has stayed in family hands for three generations since, still designed and made entirely in France between Normandy and the Jura. It’s the kind of hand-built, small-house independence that’s genuinely rare to find intact after seventy years.
Part of the wider world of independent eyewear — not necessarily something we carry, but always something we’re happy to talk about.
