Richard Mewha and Rick Nelson met working at the Optical Shop of Aspen and started Bevel together with no formal design training — just, as Mewha has put it, an urge to make eyewear as considered as any other piece of personal style.

Every frame is still handcrafted by one of the last remaining artisan workshops in Japan. The pair also built LOFT, an event platform championing independent eyewear designers across the industry — supporting the very category they’ve spent 25 years working inside.
